The elevation cuts show that the minimum bore is 50' and this is from ground level to TRACK level, which is near the BOTTOM of a 30' bore. That math immediately puts the TOP of the tunnel bore closer to 20' down. It is under houses with basements. At a conservative 8' depth for a basement, that puts the bore at 12' -15' below the houses. Second: "Minimal freight use" - have you not noticed that the proposed tunnels are for double stack freight trains (no passenger purpose there) and conveniently lead toward the Bay view freight yards? Have you not read CSX CEO's quote that "We have to get in there! (B&P tunnel). Third the chosen route does NOT 'take no homes' it just takes under 20, a "negligible" number. Fourth - based on disastrous incidents, fear & characterization of "bomb trains" is not unreasonable. It only takes one 'accident.' Fifth- I am assuming you do not live in the affected area. Am I wrong?Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15570053757244021423noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7223492702090268881.post-59939014728193686162016-03-03T02:04:26.521-08:002016-03-03T02:04:26.521-08:00Ah the ephemeral Northwest Passage, that's the...Ah the ephemeral Northwest Passage, that's the answer...Craig Purcellhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05374728946060984517noreply@blogger.com
