Downtown Partnerships plans McKeldin Design Discussion

This note was included in today's DPoB mailing titled:

"DPOB News & Events: Networking, Farmers Markets & Supporting Local Businesses". As noted in earlier posts, the Dowtown Partnership is planning to demolish the fountain and replace it with a new design created by a team consisting of Ziger Snead Architects for a new monument honoring McKeldin, ASG Architects (the designers of the Harbor 2.0 masterplan) and Mahan Rykiel, Landscape architects.

According to information unofficial information the closure of the northbound leg of Light Street where it connects to Calvert Street and separates the McKeldin Plaza from Harborplace requires widening of the current southbound lanes to accommodate both directions. The widening is only possible with demolition of part or all of McKeldin Fountain. DPoB has obtained private funds and a promise of public funds for the demolition and redesign.
