Sagamore Whiskey Distillery: Kevin Plank's Foray into Port Covington

The Sagamore Farm whiskey distillery and restaurant design for a 5 acre site at Port Covington was introduced to design review (UDARP today.  The project includes a small park, a promenade and outdoor seating and about 61,000 square feet of development in three small buildings designed to emulate the Sagamore horse farm in Baltimore County and at the same time pick up cues from Port Covington's past as a railyard. Ayer Saint Gross is the architect and Scott Vieth the project principal. The images below are screenshots of the slide presentation given to UDARP.

UDARP member Gary Bowden consiered the farm elements in the design are "manufactured" and Tom Stosur, Planning Director, suggested that "too many stories" are told on this small site. The project will come back to UDARP in schematic design.

Kevin Plank's Sagamore's Development LLC has currently 13 employees and is moving forward with two projects, the distillery and the other is the Recreation Pier in Fells Point. The Sagamore representative stated that he is not involved with masterplanning the overall 128 Port Covington site controlled by Under Armour and that he is not aware if that was going on.
